Pelicans in St James’s Park

I hadn’t seen the pelicans in St James’s Park for a very long time and it was good to see them again as I ambled around the lake lazily on a fair and springlike afternoon on Friday (6 April 2018). They are rather wonderful creatures in my view: they look a bit odd, even ridiculous, but also a tad terrifying. I always fear for a small child nearby. Of course pelicans do not gobble up children, but look at their size! These three pelicans were preening themselves meticulously and quite vigorously in the afternoon sun. Many people were fascinated by them and busily taking photographs, including myself.

Stitching these six images together produced this gif image.
