Situated between Brussels and Brugge (Bruges), Ghent is sometimes overlooked as merely a name en route, which is a shame, since the city has a vibrant feel, and its historic centre is beautiful. On a warm day in May, Graslei (the street on the left of the canal) was still full of people late at night, and it was wonderful to walk around the centre of the city.
