Photographs London Trafalgar Square

I hadn’t been to central London for a while, and when I did on 28 July 2013, there was a new object on the fourth plinth in the north-west corner of Trafalgar Square: a big blue cockerel. According to the Greater London Authority website, it is 4.72m tall, and by Katharina Fritsch. While taken aback initially, thinking what possessed Boris Johnson to commission this piece?, I soon came to like it, which is unusual, since it normally takes some considerable length of time for me to get used to something new and accept it, before eventually liking it. I am not sure what I find disturbing: that I like a big blue cockerel in a public space, or that I seem to share aesthetic sense with Boris Johnson.
