The Palace of Westminster, which houses the Houses of Parliament, is probably the most well-known building in the United Kingdom. This palace, and the clock tower in particular, is a visual cue in many films that action is taking place in London or in the UK. The chimes of Big Ben are unmistakable and somehow familiar. It is an imposing presence on the banks of the Thames, and remains at the heart of British politics. Some might think it a Victorian neo-Gothic kitsch, but there is something about this building that compels me to take photographs of it, again and again.
