Outside Justus Lipsius (European Council) building, Brussels

This piece highlights the plight of many migrant workers who are maltreated. They produce, in many cases, the stuff we want to buy cheap. We, the consumers, tend to turn a blind eye, even if we have a vague notion that things cannot be that cheap. Everyone seems to be a prisoner of the consumer society: workers are bound to awful working conditions, and consumers are chained to the cult of consumption for consumption’s sake. What is the price are we prepared to pay for a just wage?
