Snapshots Animals Blue tit

Peanuts seem to be blue tits’ favourite. Sunflower seeds are less popular. Having read up on a few guides, I naturally do not wish the young to choke on peanuts given the season, and this feeder designed for peanuts and suet pellets should ensure that these birds are pecking at peanuts and taking small pieces at a time. Rigorous shaking and best attempts by feral pigeons have not produced any loose peanuts dropping from it. The feeder isn’t designed for sunflower seeds, but having bought them, I added them alongside peanuts. The result is that sunflower seeds are dislodged very easily. Feral pigeons have figured out that sunflower seeds fall out if the feeder is knocked about a bit.

About this photograph

This photograph was taken in London during the lockdown due to coronavirus. Even though the lockdown became less restrictive in England on 13 May 2020, I decided to stay at home as much as possible, taking a closer look at the wildlife visible from my window and balcony. I have been pleasantly surprised by the diversity.
