Bernkastel is surrounded by vineyards, and presumably viticulture is an important part of town’s economy and identity. So there are no surprises to see buildings decorated with motifs of grapes. The town preserves many old buildings, and it is a popular tourist destination. There are many shops that stock local wine. Mostly white, the Mosel wine can be very good, and it is not too expensive. Indeed, it probably represents a better value for money than most other regions.
